How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Skills---- Recall & Retell, Plot, Character
Plot
All stories have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Using the illustrations in the story, model how to identify what happens in the beginning of the story.
Character----the Grinch, Max, Cindy Lou Who, the Whos
The characters in a story are the animals or people in the story.
We can understand the characters better when we tell how they are alike and how they are different.
Recall and Retell
Using the pictures as prompts, invite children to retell the story.
Why did the Grinch hate Christmas?
What did he decide to do about the holiday?
What size was the Grinch’s heart at the beginning of the story?

      Christmas Party

      Dear Parents,
Our Christmas Party is scheduled for Thursday, December 15th at 1:00p.m.  We will exchange warm knit hats with each other, make ice cream cone Christmas trees and have a special snack.  Please send in a wrapped knit hat with your child no later than Wednesday, 12/14 so that I may make sure every child will have a gift.  Boys will bring a hat for a boy and girls will bring a hat for a girl.  The price range should be under $8, please. Also, I am asking that each child be responsible for bringing in one item to contribute to our party.  Please send in your item by Wednesday, 12/14, as well. Thank you so much for your help in making the party a fun event for all the children!  Look for a letter with your precise item on Monday, Dec. 5th.
